Our New Deluxe Colouring Book for Adults: Journey Through La La Land

Tuesday, October 27, 2015

Everything is go go go here at La La Land! Following our insanely successful first Kickstarter project (which helped us launch our range of colouring books for grown-ups!), we've just launched another one! This time, we're going big!

Introducing Journey Through La La Land: Our brand spanking new deluxe colouring book featuring 20 amazing tear-out 8x10" prints for you to colour.

We've taken on board the incredible feedback we received from our first project and are excited to offer perforated pull-out pages so you can pin up and frame your awesome colouring masterpieces, plus thicker pages that are blank (except for the artist details on the back) mean that you're free to colour with standard textas and felt tip pens without wrecking anything on the other side!

THE GREAT FELT TIP EXPERIMENT: We went nuts with texta and found very little bleed on the other side of the page, but to be doubly sure no illustrations get harmed in the making, the back of each print is plain.

So what can you expect to see in Journey Through La La Land? Well, with 10 contributing artists, quite a lot! The book is bursting with illustrations from Lilly Perrott, Chloe Joyce, Nancy Liang, Paula Mills, Chrissy Lau, Brigitte May, Cameron Beau Wylie, Me & Oli, Lisa Falzon and Animal Crew. Each artist has two pages each in the book, so that's 20 amazing prints for you to hang up or share with friends!

So here's where you come in: We're currently raising funds on Kickstarter to have this amazing book in print in time for Christmas. We have some amazing rewards exclusive to the project that will make the most incredible Christmas presents, so if you're keen to be the coolest gift giver this silly season, and you want to show your support for some of the most talented illustrators in the biz, back our project on Kickstarter and help us reach our target!

Are you a backer of our previous colouring book project? What did you think? How can we make this even bigger and better for you?! Let us know in the comments below!

Snap a Selfie and Show Off Your Inner Awesomeness with La La Land's Personality Plates! #myplateselfie

Tuesday, June 16, 2015
Last week we very excitedly got our bestselling Creative Homewares range back in stock, including a few new additions like our super cool trays and illustrated character cups. But today it's all about our personality plates. Our favourite Animal Portraits and Animal Clubs plate sets are back in stock and our brand spanking new Victorian Wars plate set is finally here!

Each of our plates is bursting with personality, each of them awesome in their own way - just like you! Are you a member of the Cute Bunny Club? Or maybe you're more of a Tattooed Walrus! No? You're more of a Lord Vadersworth? Whatever floats your boat!

If you've got your hot little hands on one of our plate sets, we want you to show off your inner awesomeness with La La Land on Instagram by snapping a selfie with the plate that says the most about you (it doesn't have to show your face!) and hashtagging #myplateselfie.

For a bit of #myplateselfie inspo, we thought we'd join the fun and introduce the La La Land team with their very own personality plate picks. Does your personality match any of the below?

Name: Ludi

Role: Co-Director & Founder of La La Land

Plate Pick: Sir Yodington from the Victorian Wars Plate Set by Terry Fan

Why: Ludi's pick is Sir Yodington because she's the oldest, although not necessarily the wisest! (Her own words!)

Name: Elie

Role: Co-Director & Founder of La La Land

Plate Pick: Deer from the Animal Portraits Plate Set by Animal Crew

Why: The stag is Elie's spirit animal - so his plate pick just HAD to be Animal Crew's Deer portrait. You'll find his Pinterest littered with lots of beautifully illustrated stags. Look, they've even got matching jackets! It's meant to be!
Name: Lilly

Role: In-House Illustrator & Designer

Plate Pick: Pretty Kitty Committee from the Animal Clubs Plate Set by Kirbee Lawler

Why: Lilly isn't just artistically talented, she's also a great mum to multiple cats at home! Lilly is the La La Land office's token crazy cat lady, so it seems fitting that she'd be a member of the Pretty Kitty Committee.

Name: Anthony

Role: Import/Export Coordinator

Plate Pick: Astro Cat from the Animal Portraits Plate Set by Animal Crew

Why: We like to imagine that Astro Cat has travelled the galaxy in his little space goggles and sharp suit - Just like Anthony! Anthony has travelled from far away (all they way from France!) to work at the La La Land office, and we're so happy he's here.
Name: Veronica

Role: Bookkeeper

Plate Pick: Cute Bunny Club from the Animal Clubs Plate Set by Kirbee Lawler

Why: Veronica has picked the Cute Bunny Club plate because she's super health conscious and loves her veggies (purple carrots, anyone?) Whenever there's a birthday cake in the office, Veronica will just nibble away at the crumbs (bunny style!) rather than eating a proper slice!

Name: Lauren

Role: Marketing Coordinator

Plate Pick: Otterly Awesome from the Animal Clubs Plate Set by Kirbee Lawler

Why: Lauren loves a good pun, and Kirbee's "Otterly Awesome" design has always been one of her most favourite illustrations. Plus, she really is otterly awesome!
Name: Chris

Role: Warehouse Manager

Plate Pick: Tattooed Walrus from the Animal Portraits Plate Set by Animal Crew

Why: Both Chris and the Tattooed Walrus have matching beanies and are both super cool dudes - it's as simple as that!

We'll be posting our selfies on the La La Land Instagram and we hope you'll join us! In the meantime, why not let us know your plate personality in the comments below?

8 Valentines Day Cards for Couples and Partners of All Kinds

Tuesday, February 10, 2015
Need some last minute Valentines Day card ideas? Not to worry, we've got this! Whether you've only just got together, or you've been a couple since the beginning of time, our new range has a card for every kind of boyfriend, girlfriend, wife or husband. Valentines Day itself might be a bit corny, but why not class it up with a card created by one of La La Land's super talented artists? Let's do this!

1. For those who are dating someone super sweet:
Hundreds and Thousands by Elise Maree
Because who doesn't love fairy bread? This lovely pink card is the sweetest way to say I love you.

2. For couples with bright futures:
Heading Far by Annie Henderson
We love this card because it's so hopeful and cute. With Annie Henderson's signature storybook-style illustrations, you can be sure you're off to a good start!

3. For the foodie (or just plain pizza lover):
Supreme Love by Katy Osmond
We here at La La Land love our food, so it made perfect sense to work with the wonderful Katy Osmond on a pizza card. This card will delight any significant other who loves a slice, and is great if you're looking for a card that isn't too... cheesy? Okay, you've got us there!

4. For new couples who know they're onto something good: Good Together by Clarisse Djaja for La La Land Design House
For those not ready to mention the L-word, but are clearly onto a good thing, this delicious looking ice cream card is a great way to let your new beau know how happy you are. Plus they can hang the ice cream ornament at home or at work as a memento of you.

5. For the boyfriend or girlfriend who loves a drink: Drunkest by Gabrielle Costanzo for La La Land Design House
Let them know that you still love them even though they're a total lightweight. This card is for the couples who have truly seen each other at their worst but are still totally smitten. Now that's true love.

6. For the couple who like a bit of history with their romance:
Claddagh Love by Saskia Malwina
This very sentimental card was inspired by the traditional Irish Claddagh ring which was first produced in the 17th century. The design features three symbols: The heart represents love, the crown stands for loyalty, and the hands symbolise friendship. This is a card meant for someone very special to you.

7. For the significant other who swears like a sailor:
F*cking Amazing by Berenice Lurion for La La Land Design House
There are some of us out there who love a good swear - nothing wrong with that! If your partner is super amazing and loves a bit of a swear, we think this is the card for them. This card is one of our keepsake cards, so they can hang the plywood ornament wherever they want as a reminder of just how effing amazing they are!

8. For the couple who have been together forever, and plan to stay that way: Forever by Jess Chen
Now this is the stuff that Valentines Day is made of. This wonderful card created by Jess Chen is the cutest way to tell your partner that you want to grow old with them.

Still haven't found what you're looking for? Browse our full range of Valentines Day cards for more unique ideas, or let us know what you think in the comments below!
